Bagdadi Merchant

You can find us over at Block 14 in the Gafur Mujawwar Chawl. It’s in a part of Thane West that’s been around for ages. We are located right opposite the Juma Masjid, which is a major landmark. During prayer times, the whole area gets very busy and full of life. The chawl itself has a lot of history and the walls are thick. Our space is tucked inside, and it stays relatively cool even when the sun is hitting the street hard outside. It’s a basic setup. We have a few cupboards for storage and a couple of sturdy tables. At Bagdadi Merchant, we don't believe in spending money on fancy interiors. We prefer things to be practical. The neighborhood is tight-knit, and everyone knows everyone else. You’ll often see us standing outside the block chatting with the neighbors or the people coming from the masjid. The entrance can be a bit hard to see if you aren't looking for the number 14, but once you’re in the chawl, it’s easy. There is a lot of character in these old buildings. We like the sound of the calls to prayer and the general hum of the marketplace nearby. It’s where we’ve always been and we don't see ourselves moving any time soon. It’s an honest, hardworking environment for us. We just keep doing what we do every day without much fuss.
