We are based out in Vasai East at the Shivalaya Industrial Estate. Our units are 101 through 113, so we are easy to find once you get inside the gate. We are right opposite the old Karnataka Mill on the N. H. No. 8 highway. It is a busy spot. The estate is always full of activity with trucks loading and unloading. At Alex Jewellery, we have a lot of benches set up for the work. It’s a very hands-on environment. The lighting is bright because we need to see what we are doing, but the rest of the place is pretty basic. We have concrete floors and some heavy metal doors for security. It’s not like a retail shop in a mall. This is where the actual work happens. The highway noise is a constant background sound. Sometimes the rain is so loud on the roof that we have to shout to hear each other. We take a lunch break at the same time every day and most of us sit outside in the shade if it’s not too hot. We have a small staff who have been doing this for a long time. There isn't much hierarchy here. We just get the orders ready and make sure they are sent out properly. It is a lot of hard work and long hours, but it’s what we know how to do.
