Akshayyanubhooti Foundation

You can find us in Sector-16 of Nerul, over in Thane. We are at C-20/3:1, which is part of a quiet residential block. Living in Maharashtra, you get used to the busy pace, but our little corner of Nerul is actually quite calm. We aren't a big corporation with hundreds of employees. In fact, most days it’s just two or three of us sitting around a table with our laptops and a lot of paperwork. We started the Akshayyanubhooti Foundation because we wanted to be more involved in what happens in our local area. It wasn't a big decision made in a boardroom. We were just sitting around one evening and realized we could do more than just complain about things. Now, we spend our time talking to people in the community and seeing where we can lend a hand. Our office doesn't have fancy decorations. There are some old calendars on the wall and a lot of books piled up. We don't have a set routine. Some days we are busy from morning until late at night, and other days we just wait for the phone to ring. We don't use a lot of big words to describe what we do. We just try to be useful. If someone from the neighborhood drops in, we always have time for a chat and a cup of chai. That’s just how we operate. We just take it one person at a time.
