Akah Publication

Akah Publication is run out of Flat No. 104. We are on the 1st floor of the Dattadham Housing Society. It’s located on M.G. Road, right across from the Kranti Department Store in Dombivli. Being in a housing society means it feels more like a home than a corporate office. We have stacks of books and manuscripts piled up in the rooms. Sometimes the smell of fresh ink and paper is really strong. Since we are on the first floor, we can see the shoppers going in and out of the department store all day. M.G. Road is always full of life, especially in the evenings. Our office has a small balcony where we keep some plants. The kitchen has been turned into a place to keep the printer and the tea kettle. It’s a small team here. We spend a lot of time reading through proofs or talking to authors on the phone. The doorbell rings quite often with couriers dropping off packages. It’s a bit cramped with all the storage boxes, but we find our way around. We don't have a big sign outside, just a small nameplate. Working in Dombivli has its own rhythm. We try to get most things done before the evening rush starts on the local trains. It’s just a local publishing house doing its bit every day. We enjoy the work and the books that we handle.
