This college is over in the Kariyad area of Kannur, specifically near JK Villa. Being a government college, things work in a specific way here. It’s not about flashy signs or big advertisements. The building itself has been around for quite a while and it shows its age in some places, but it’s sturdy enough for our needs. We have a lot of students from around the Kannur district who come here because it is accessible. The walk from the main road isn't too bad unless it is raining, and in Kerala, it rains quite a lot. When the monsoon hits, we all just huddle inside and the sound of the rain on the roof is really loud. I spend my days mostly dealing with the student records and the general upkeep of the place. We have a small library that’s usually pretty quiet, which is a nice break from the noisy corridors. The faculty are local people for the most part, and we all know the tea shop right outside the gate very well. It is a simple life here at GPM. We don't have any big corporate goals; we just want to make sure the classes happen and the exams are conducted. Students often hang out under the trees in the courtyard when they don't have a lecture. It’s a very typical Kerala college scene, honestly. Nothing more and nothing less than what you see when you walk through the front gates every morning.
