Maya Bricks

Maya Bricks is right here at No.203. Being near Budh Bazar means it gets pretty crowded on market days. You can hear the noise from the stalls all day long while we move things around. It’s mostly just us and a few workers trying to keep the yard tidy. The red dust gets everywhere, especially when the wind picks up from the open fields nearby. We’ve been at this spot for a while now. Some days are slow, just sitting around waiting for a truck to show up or checking on the stacks. It’s not fancy. There is a small shed where we keep the records and a leaky tap in the corner for washing up. Sometimes the neighbors come by just to chat about the weather or how the local crops are doing. We don’t have much in the way of big signs, just the bricks piled up high so you know where you are. Work starts early before the sun gets too hot. By noon, everything feels still. If you are looking for us, look for the tall piles near the market entrance. The gate is usually open unless it’s raining hard. It’s a simple life, mostly heavy lifting and making sure the mud dries right before the next batch is ready. We just keep doing what we do every day without making a big fuss about it.
