Vivekananda Firm

Down on Courtallam Road, near the Piranoor Border in Shenkottai, sits the Vivekananda Firm. The address is No:1/883, but most people just look for the big iron gate. It’s a busy road with a lot of trucks passing through to cross the border, so it’s rarely quiet around here. We’ve been operating out of this spot for a long time. The office is basically a small room attached to the main warehouse. We have a lot of old wooden furniture that’s seen better days, but it does the job. Most of our day is spent talking to drivers and making sure the paperwork is ready for the border checks. It’s a lot of waiting around sometimes, followed by a huge rush where everyone is shouting at once. We don't really have a boss who sits in a separate office; we’re all out on the floor together. The dust from the road gets in everything, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the counters. We aren't trying to be the biggest company in the world. We just want to make sure the loads get moved and the drivers are happy. There’s a small temple nearby, and we usually hear the bells in the evening when we’re finishing up. It’s a hardworking place with no frills, and that’s just how we prefer to keep things running day after day. It keeps us quite busy.
