Site Engineer

I’m Muthukrishnan, and I’ve got my base at number 38 on Shenbaga Vinayagar Kovil Street in Tenkasi. It’s a good location in a town known for its spirit and the nearby hills. As a Site Engineer, I cover quite a bit of ground across the Tirunelveli district. My office is a simple room where I keep my drafting board and all the site records. I’m usually out of the house by seven in the morning to beat the heat and check on the workers at the different projects I’m managing. The work involves a lot of checking and re-checking, making sure everything is aligned with the plans. I don't have a big corporate setup or a polished marketing plan. Most people in Tenkasi know me or have seen me working at one of the local sites. The rain during the monsoon can make things difficult, so I have to plan the schedules carefully. I’ve been doing this work for years, and I’ve seen the town grow quite a bit in that time. My boots are almost always muddy, and my shirts get stained, but that’s the nature of being on-site. I prefer being out there where the actual building happens rather than stuck behind a computer screen. It’s a busy life, but I like the variety of projects I get to work on around here. After a long day, it’s nice to come back to the quiet of the temple street. It is a practical life.
