Out in Sarhali Kalan, we spend our days working with tea. It is a quiet spot in the Tarn Taran area. At Vm Tea Processors & Packers, we process everything right here and then pack it up into bags for distribution. The building isn’t really anything special to look at. It is just a practical space with lots of tea leaves and machines that make a fair bit of noise all day long. Sometimes the dust from the tea leaves gets on everything, but you get used to it after a while. We have a few folks from the village helping out with the packing and the loading. It’s hard work, especially when we get a lot of orders at once and the trucks are waiting. We aren't trying to be some giant corporate company. We are just a local tea place near Amritsar. People around here drink a lot of tea, so we stay pretty busy. The truck usually comes in the morning to drop things off and leaves by the evening. Sometimes the power goes out and we just have to sit and wait for it to come back on. That is just part of how things are here in the village. We have been in Sarhali for a good while now. Most of the local people know where our gate is. It is a very straightforward business. No fancy suits or long meetings. Just bags of tea and getting them ready.
