Gopal Rice Mill

Gopal Rice Mill sits right on Samali Road in Nissing. If you’re coming from the police station side, we’re just a short distance away. The mill is a loud place, full of the sound of engines and the smell of raw paddy. We spend our days covered in a bit of dust, making sure the grain is processed properly. It’s not a job for someone who wants to stay perfectly clean all day. We have a few regular workers who have been with us for years, and we all know the routine by heart. When the harvest season hits, it’s all hands on deck, and we sometimes stay late into the night under the old yellow lights. During the quieter months, we spend time on maintenance, greasing the parts and fixing whatever wore out. The yard outside is usually filled with tractors and trucks, especially in the mornings. We don’t have a fancy office with air conditioning; we usually just sit in the small cabin near the gate to handle the receipts. It’s hard work, but there’s a certain satisfaction when you see the bags of rice stacked up and ready to go. People in Nissing know us for being steady and just doing our part in the local economy. It’s a plain, working mill and that’s all there is to it. We don't try to make it look like something it isn't.
