Setting up Nirmal Academy in Duliyabass was a big step for us. This village in Churu District is a quiet place, but we wanted to bring something useful here. We have some classrooms and some benches that we painted ourselves a while back. It’s not a huge building or anything fancy. The roads here get quite dusty when the wind picks up, so we spend a lot of time cleaning the floors. You can find us easily enough because everyone knows where the academy is. We spend our mornings getting the books ready and making sure the lights work. Some days the internet is slow, which makes things a bit difficult, but we manage. We aren't trying to be some big city school. We just want the kids around here to have a place to sit and focus. My family helps out with the daily chores too. Sometimes parents stop by just to chat about the crops or the weather before asking about their children. It feels like a small community effort more than a business. We have a few old fans that make a lot of noise, but they keep the heat away. There is always a lot of chatter during the breaks. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing every single day. It is a long walk for some of the kids, so we try to make the place feel welcoming.
