Gamit Welfare Foundation

If you ever find yourself in Parchuli, near Uchchhal in the Tapi district, you might come across House Number 37. That’s where Bhagubhai Mirajibhai lives, and it’s also where we run Gamit Welfare Foundation. It is a very quiet area, mostly just fields and homes where families have lived for generations. We don’t have a sign on the main road or anything like that. People just know where to find us by asking around. Living out here in Tapi, you realize that help doesn’t always come from far away. Usually, it’s your neighbors who step up. We handle a lot of different things, whatever comes our way really. Some days it’s about helping a family with some paperwork, and other days we are just listening to what the elders have to say about the village needs. It’s not a corporate setup at all. We sit on the porch or in the front room and just talk through things. It feels right doing it this way. Being part of the Gamit community means looking out for each other. We use what we have, which sometimes isn't much, but it makes a difference to the people living in these parts. It’s slow work, but it’s steady. We don’t mind the long days because the people we help are the same people we see at the market or in the fields. It is just home for us and we like being useful here.
