Down here in Vadalur, our office is at 8/46 Thiruvalluvar Nagar in the Abatharanapuram area. It’s in the Cuddalore district, so it’s a bit of a different pace compared to the big cities. We handle the local contracting side of things for Leighton from this small office. It’s a simple brick building and we’ve been here for a good while. Most of the people working here are locals who know the area well. We spend our time talking to suppliers and checking on the progress of various construction tasks nearby. It’s not a fancy setup. We have a few desks, some chairs, and a lot of logbooks. The weather gets pretty humid here, so the fans are always going. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. Word usually gets around by mouth about what we’re doing. We just try to make sure the materials arrive on time and that the workers know where they need to be. Sometimes the internet is a bit slow, so we do a lot of things over the phone or just by walking over to talk to someone. It’s a honest day’s work for us. We just come in, see what’s on the list for the day, and get through it. It’s quiet mostly, except for when the trucks come by. We like it that way.
