Rmk Residential School

Out here at Rmk Residential School, things are a bit different because we are located right on the Nh-5 highway in Kavarapettai. It’s part of the Gummidipoondi area in Thiruvallur district, so it feels a little far from the main city buzz. Since it’s a residential place, the kids are here all the time, not just during the day. We have dormitories where they sleep and a big dining hall where everyone eats together. The sound of the trucks passing by on the national highway is something you just live with. The grounds are fairly large, giving us some space that you don’t get in the middle of a town. We spend a lot of our time making sure the kids are following their schedules, from breakfast in the morning to lights out at night. The staff also stays on the premises, so we are all living in the same environment. It’s a lot of work keeping a place like this running twenty-four hours a day. We have to deal with plumbing issues, kitchen supplies, and making sure the laundry gets done. It’s a practical life here, focused on the daily routine of classes and chores. Sometimes the weather gets really hot, and we all just try to find some shade under the trees near the boundary wall. It’s a simple existence, really, just looking after the students and making sure the school stays functional for everyone who lives here.
