Powergear Ltd.

Powergear Ltd. is situated at 31, 5th Main in Phase 2 of the Madras Export Processing Zone, or MEPZ as most call it. Being in Tambaram means we are part of a large industrial community. Our facility is where we handle all the gear and equipment we work with. It’s a large space, which is lucky because we have a lot of stuff to move around. We’ve been here in Phase 2 for a long time. The zone has its own rules and rhythm, and we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We aren't a corporate giant with a glass building. Our place is more about function than form. There are tools and components scattered about on the workbenches. We have a team of local workers who know their way around the shop floor. We don't spend much time on fancy presentations. We’d rather be out there checking the inventory or looking at the machines. Tambaram is a good spot for us because of the transport links. It makes getting things in and out a bit easier. We just show up every morning and get through the list of things to do. Some days are stressful, but most of the time we just keep a steady pace. It’s honest work and we’re proud to be part of the MEPZ area. We’ll probably be here for many more years, just doing what we do.
