Mahalakshmi Womens College Of Arts & Science

We’ve been here at No 1 Mahalakshmi Nagar for quite some time now. Most people know us as the place on Kolady Road near Kamaraj Nagar where the local girls come for their degrees. It’s a busy spot, especially in the mornings when classes start and everyone is rushing through the gates. The college has different departments for arts and science, and we try to keep things running smoothly every day. It isn’t fancy, but the building is sturdy and the classrooms have what they need. You’ll find teachers sitting in the staff room grading papers or talking about the next set of exams. We see a lot of students walking from the bus stop or getting dropped off by their parents. Paruthipattu is a quiet enough area, though the road gets a bit crowded during peak hours. Some of the girls come from quite far away just to study here. We have a small library and some labs where the science students do their practical work. It’s mostly just hard work and routine around here. The grounds are kept as clean as possible, and there's usually a bit of shade under the trees if the sun is too hot. We don’t really do big advertisements or anything like that. People just know where we are. It’s just a regular college doing its bit for the community here in Chennai. We’ve seen many batches of students come and go over the years, each one leaving their own mark on the place.
