Mina Id Works

Mina Id Works is tucked away at 3/810-2 on P. T. Road in the Chembumukku area. We fall under the Thrikkakara P. O. district. It’s a small operation we have here. We mostly deal with making identity cards for various groups. You’ll see piles of plastic blanks and various colored lanyards hanging from hooks on the wall. The laminating machine is almost always on, which makes the room smell a bit like hot plastic. It’s a very specific kind of work, and it can be repetitive, but it keeps us busy. The traffic on P. T. Road can be a real nightmare during the morning rush, so we usually get in a bit early to avoid the worst of it. We don't have a big storefront with flashing lights. It’s just a plain door with our name on it. Inside, it’s mostly just workbenches and the camera setup for taking photos. Sometimes kids come in for their school IDs and they can’t sit still, which makes the job a bit of a challenge. We’ve been in this spot for a few years now and have gotten to know the other shop owners nearby. We often share a coffee or talk about the weather when things are slow. We don’t try to be anything fancy. We just make the cards, hand them over, and move on to the next one. It’s a straightforward way to make a living in Chembumukku.
