Mahakal Traders

You can find Mahakal Traders right in the middle of Barbil Bazar, in Ward Number 6. We are located near the Mahanta Indane gas agency, which is a good landmark for people trying to find us. The bazar is always crowded and noisy, especially in the mornings when everyone is setting up. Our shop is packed from floor to ceiling with all sorts of goods. We don't have a lot of empty space, so you have to be careful where you walk. Trading in a place like Barbil means dealing with all kinds of people every day. We spend most of our time haggling over prices or checking the inventory against the handwritten lists we keep. It’s not a high-end retail experience. It’s a basic trading post where we buy and sell what’s needed in the local area. The floor is a bit uneven and the paint is peeling in some corners, but it works for us. We don't have air conditioning, so we just keep the doors wide open and let the dust and the noise in. It’s a busy life. We drink a lot of tea to keep going through the long afternoons. We don't have a big philosophy or anything like that. We just try to keep the stock full and the customers coming back. It’s been our way of life for a long time now in this market and we plan to stay here for many more.
