Swarna Traders

Out here in Mandaolam, things definitely move a bit slower than they do in the big cities. We are based in West Godavari, and we mostly work with what the local land provides throughout the year. Being traders means we are always looking at what is coming in from the nearby farms. It involves a lot of paperwork and even more phone calls to people all over the district. The office we use is pretty basic, just a sturdy desk, some old chairs, and a lot of paper ledgers stacked in the corner. We have seen the seasons change many times from this very spot. When the harvest time finally comes, it gets incredibly hectic around here. There are trucks coming and going at all hours, and drivers are always looking for a place to park. The rest of the year is much quieter, and we just manage what we have in stock. It is a family-run thing, really. My brother handles the transport side of things and I stay here to manage the books and talk to the people. We have had some really tough years when the weather didn’t go our way, but that is just part of living in West Godavari. Everyone knows everyone else in this village. You cannot even go to the market without seeing five people you know by name. We do not bother with fancy ads. People just know Swarna Traders by word of mouth. It is how my father did it before us.
