We are located in the Apiic Industrial Park, Phase-Ii Mambattu, which is part of the Tada Mandal area. Being in an industrial park means things are a bit different than a regular shop. We have a big space at 10-13, and it is mostly filled with large-scale equipment. It’s an industrial operation, so we have shifts and a lot of rules about where people can walk and what they need to wear. It’s not the kind of place where you just drop in for a chat. We are busy processing large amounts of coffee, and there is always a truck waiting at the loading dock. The air inside the facility is always warm because of the heat from the machines. We spend a lot of time checking dials and making sure the lines are moving. It’s a long way from the small farms where the coffee starts, but this is where it gets turned into something people can actually use. The people working here come from all over the surrounding villages. We eat our lunch together in the break area and talk about things other than work. Even though it is a big company name, the people doing the work are just locals trying to earn a living. We keep our heads down and get the production numbers where they need to be every day of the week. It’s a different kind of coffee life, focused on the output and the daily grind of the manufacturing process.
