South End Tours

Our office is right across from Hotel Argyll at 17 Bar 92 B. It is a small space, mostly filled with a couple of desks and some chairs for people to sit while they wait. South End Tours has been operating from this corner for a long time now. You can see the hotel guests coming and going from our front window. We spend a lot of time on the phone or looking at train and bus schedules on the computer. The walls have some old maps pinned up that are starting to curl at the edges. It’s not a quiet place because the street outside is always busy with cars and people looking for the hotel. We drink a lot of coffee to stay sharp during the long shifts. Sometimes the internet goes slow and we have to apologize to the people sitting in front of us. We just try to get the bookings right and make sure the drivers know where they are going. It’s mostly about keeping track of names and dates and making sure the paperwork is in order. There is a lot of back and forth with the transport guys. When the monsoon hits, the rain splashes against the glass and we have to move the papers away from the window. It is just a regular office where we do our part to keep things moving along for everyone who comes in asking for a trip.
