Mondikathi Venkatamma

Mondikathi Venkatamma is the name on the front of our place here on the Main Road in Durajpalli. You can find us at house number 2-34. Being on the main road means there is always a lot of dust and noise from the trucks passing by toward Chivemla. It’s a small operation, mostly just me and a couple of others handling the daily business. We see a lot of people coming and going because of where we are located. The shop isn't anything fancy, just a few shelves and a counter where we take care of customers. Sometimes we sit out front on wooden benches when the work slows down in the middle of the day. The sun can be quite sharp on this side of the road, so we have a small awning that helps a bit. People stop in for all sorts of things, and we try to help them out as best as we can. We’ve been in this spot for years, and the building has seen better days, but it serves us well enough. We don't use any computers or big machines here. It’s all done by hand and with simple notebooks to keep track of what’s happening. It’s a quiet life in some ways, even with the traffic noise outside. We just keep the door open and wait to see who walks in next. That is how the days go by in Durajpalli.
