You can find Ambica Cotton Industries in the Mahajan Building, which is near Milan Cinema on Muli Road in Godavari Village. This is the heart of the cotton country. Our place is usually covered in a thin layer of white lint. That’s just the nature of the business. We deal with raw cotton, cleaning it and getting it ready. It’s a seasonal job, so some months are much busier than others. When the harvest comes in, the whole area is buzzing with tractors and trucks. The building itself is an older structure, and the office is just a simple room with some chairs and a ledger. We don't use fancy software for everything; a lot of it is still written down. My family has been around this trade for a long time. We know the local farmers and the buyers who come from the cities. It’s a lot of manual labor, moving bales around and making sure the quality is decent. The noise of the ginning machines can be quite loud, so we’ve gotten used to talking loudly over it. Muli Road is always dusty, especially when the wind picks up. We take breaks in the shade when it’s hot. We don't have any big corporate goals. We just want to process the cotton and get it sold so we can start again the next day. It's a simple life focused on the crop and the seasons.
