Navrang Ceramic

Down in Amrapar, in the Thangadh district, you will find us at Navrang Ceramic. Thangadh is famous for this kind of work, so we are just one of many, but we like our little corner of it. The air here usually smells like earth and firing kilns. Our building is simple, made for work rather than looking good for visitors. We spend our days surrounded by clay and finished ceramic pieces. There is always a lot of mud on the floor, no matter how much we sweep. It is a rural area, so things move a bit slower than in the big cities, and we prefer it that way. We don’t have a marketing department or anyone to write fancy letters for us. We just make the ceramics and talk to the people who want to buy them. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to wait it out, sitting outside and talking. Most of our workers live nearby and have been doing this since they were young. It is a hard job that leaves your hands rough, but it is what we know. We don't have a big fancy office, just a small room with a table where we do the accounts. If you come by, you’ll probably find us in our work clothes, busy with whatever batch is currently being processed. It is a basic life, but it works for us.
