Jaykay Compressed Wood Corporation

Being located at 58, Jintan Udhyognagar means we are surrounded by other workshops and the constant hum of industry. At Jaykay Compressed Wood Corporation, there is always a fine layer of sawdust on everything, no matter how often we clean. The space is large and drafty, which is good in the summer but makes the winters a bit chilly. You get used to the smell of wood and glue after a while; you don't even notice it anymore. We spend a lot of time moving heavy stacks around and making sure the machinery is behaving itself. The floor is concrete and has a few cracks from years of heavy use. We have a small desk tucked into the corner where the invoices get processed, but most of the action happens out on the floor. The overhead lights are bright and a bit harsh, but they help us see what we are doing. Lunch is usually eaten quickly on whatever bench is clean. People from the neighboring units often drop by to borrow a tool or just to chat for five minutes. It is a noisy environment with the sound of saws and the occasional truck backing into the loading area. We don't have a fancy waiting room for visitors. If you come by, you'll probably end up standing near the door while we finish what we're doing. It’s just how it works in this part of town.
