Our shop, Usha Textiles, is located at No 2/1752 in the Panjara Estate area of Sagrampura. It’s a bit tucked away, but we like it that way. The estate is mostly full of small workshops and textile places like ours. Inside, we have a lot of fabric stored on wooden racks. The smell of new cloth is the first thing you notice when you walk in. It isn't a modern showroom with bright spotlights or mannequins. It’s more like a working warehouse where we spend our time sorting through different materials. We have a couple of old tables where we measure out the lengths of cloth for orders. The floor is concrete, and sometimes there are threads everywhere by the end of a busy shift. We don't have a lot of bells and whistles. We just focus on keeping plenty of fabric on hand for whoever needs it. Sagrampura is a busy part of the city, and the sounds of the street always drift through the open door. We know many of our neighbors who work in the other units nearby. We often share a cup of tea in the doorway during our breaks. It’s a straightforward life, and the work is honest. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a fancy setup. We just want to make sure the materials are ready when someone needs them. It's a small business, run by people who know their way around a bolt of cloth.
