We are out at Plot No. 3, which is part of Survey No. 207 in Umarkui. It is a bit of a trek to get out here if you are coming from the main city, but the quiet is actually quite nice for doing our work. The area around Umarkui is still somewhat open compared to the crowded industrial hubs closer to the center. Our plot is marked by a simple fence and a gate that sometimes squeaks when you open it. We work with petrogels, so the environment inside is very focused on the tanks and the processing equipment we have set up. It isn't a place for people in suits; we all wear work clothes that usually end up with a few stains by the end of the shift. The sun hits the front of the building pretty hard in the morning, so we usually keep the shutters halfway down to stay cool. There is a small patch of grass near the back that we try to keep neat, though the weeds usually win that battle. Inside, it’s mostly just the sound of the pumps and the occasional truck arriving to pick up a shipment. We don't have a big marketing department or anyone to write fancy speeches. It is just us out here in Umarkui, doing what we know how to do and making sure the quality is what it needs to be.
