Uma Time Agencies

The shop at S/129 Belgium Square opens up pretty early when the sun is still low over Khatodara. It’s a small space, mostly filled with glass counters and those tiny tools you need for watch work. People wander in from the square, sometimes just to ask the time even though they’re standing in a watch shop. It’s funny how that happens. We spend a lot of time cleaning fingerprints off the glass because everyone wants to point closely at the dials. The light in here is a bit dim towards the back, but we have those bright lamps on the workbenches. You can hear the traffic outside, especially when the buses go by toward the main intersection. We’ve got stacks of boxes in the corner that we haven’t found a permanent spot for yet. It’s not a fancy place, just a workspace with some chairs for people to sit while they wait. The floor tiles are a bit worn down from years of walking back and forth. Sometimes the fan makes a clicking noise that matches the wall clocks, which can be a bit much if you’re trying to concentrate on a small spring. We keep the spare parts in those plastic organizers that never seem to stay organized. If you’re looking for the place, it’s just tucked away in the square. Most of our neighbors know us by now. We mostly just keep our heads down and work through the pile of watches on the desk. That's about it.
