We are over in Surat at the Arihant Complex. Our shop takes up numbers 238 and 239. It’s right in the Harinagar Udhna area, very close to the Udhna bus stand. If you know Surat, you know how busy this area gets with all the textile work happening nearby. At Dk Speed Sewing Machine, we deal with exactly what the name says. The shop is always full of machines, parts, and tools. There’s usually a bit of oil on the floor and the sound of someone testing a motor. It’s a working shop, not a showroom. We spend our days fixing things or showing people how to use a new machine they just bought. The bus stand nearby means there’s constant movement outside. People are always dropping off machines for repair or picking up needles and thread. We’ve got a small team, and we all know our way around a sewing machine pretty well. It’s a lot of manual work and standing on our feet. We don’t bother with much else besides the machines. The complex itself is quite old and has a lot of character. We’ve been here long enough that most of the tailors in the neighborhood know our names. We just open up in the morning, get through the pile of repairs, and try to keep everyone’s machines running so they can keep working too.
