Our setup is right in the GIDC Shopping Centre in Pandesara, Surat. We are at unit 2/3, which is a very industrial part of town with a lot of heavy activity. If you have been to Pandesara, you know it is all about factories and big trucks moving in and out all day long. Being in the GIDC area means there is always a bit of dust in the air and the constant sound of machinery nearby. Our office is fairly basic, just a place for us to manage the transport side of things without any extra frills. We have a lot of ledgers and schedules pinned up on the walls so we don't forget anything important. It is a lot of talking to drivers and making sure they have the right paperwork before they head out on the long road. The shopping centre isn't really for fashion, it is more of a hub for businesses like ours that need to be near the action. We spend a lot of time drinking chai and waiting for the next truck to arrive at the gate. It can get quite hot in Gujarat, so we try to keep the space as comfortable as we can with a few fans blowing. There is nothing fancy about the way we work here. It is just about keeping the goods moving from one place to another without any major hiccups or delays. Most of the guys here have grown up in Surat and know the industrial zones well.
