Hutamaki Paper P. Ltd

Hutamaki Paper P. Ltd is based out at Survey No 34, Hissa 1/3, in a place called Umerkoi. It’s near Silvassa, so it’s a bit out of the way for most people. The road getting here is okay, but it can get pretty muddy when it rains. We have a large facility because paper takes up a lot of room. There are stacks of it everywhere you look. We have the big rolls, the cut sheets, and all the scraps that get recycled. The sound of the paper machines is constant. It’s a low drone that you get used to after your first week. We aren't fancy people. Most of the staff comes from the local villages nearby. We show up, check the Hissa 1/3 plot, and start the shift. There’s no corporate ladder here, just people doing their jobs. We have a small office where we keep the ledgers and the phone, but the real work happens in the back on the floor. Silvassa is an industrial hub, so there are always trucks passing through Umerkoi. We spend a lot of time loading those trucks up. It’s physical work and can be tiring, but it’s steady. We don't have a mission statement or anything like that. We just make sure the paper is produced and sent out to the people who ordered it. It’s a straightforward business. We’ve been at this Survey No 34 spot for a long time and we plan to stay here for even longer.
