We spend most of our time at P-595 in the New G. I. D. C. area. It’s right on the Phulpad Road in Katar Gam. The building is just a big warehouse full of cloth rolls. There is a lot of dust from the fabric so we have to sweep a lot. We buy stuff from the mills and then sell it to the smaller shops nearby. It’s a lot of lifting and moving heavy boxes around. Sometimes the truck driver gets lost looking for the entrance. That happens more than you would think. We don't have a fancy showroom with lights. We just have shelves and a small desk for the ledgers. I write everything down in a big book. My nephew handles the phone calls. Some days we have too much stock and no room to walk. Other days the floor is almost empty and we wait for the next shipment. The heat in the summer makes the warehouse very stuffy. We keep the big fans running all day long. It's a simple business of buying and selling. We don't talk much about trends or fashion. We just know what kind of cotton or polyester the local tailors are looking for. People come by, check the quality with their fingers, and we agree on a price. It’s how things have worked here for years. We stay busy from morning until the sun goes down and the gate gets locked up.
