Our shipyard is located over in Mannar, in the Alleppey district of Kerala. The specific spot is Kochuveettil Kurattissery, near the water. It’s a beautiful part of the country with all the greenery, though we are usually too busy with the actual work to spend much time looking at the views. Working in a shipyard means there is always something manual and practical to be done. It’s often noisy, it’s dusty, and it involves a lot of hard physical work. We have a crew that really knows their way around boats and metalwork. We don't have a big marketing department, just a bunch of guys who know how to build and fix things with their hands. We’ve been here in Mannar for quite some time, and the local people know us pretty well. It’s a tight-knit community where everyone looks out for each other. We don't put on any airs or act like we are something we're not. If you come by the yard, you’ll likely see us in our old work clothes, probably covered in a bit of grease or some paint. That’s just the nature of this kind of job. We keep our tools organized and our schedules as tight as we can, though sometimes the heavy rain in Kerala has other plans for our outdoor work. We just take it as it comes and move on. It’s a solid, honest way to make a living for us.
