Vijeta Silk Mills

Our shop is 586 on the Upper Ground floor of the Jash Textile Market. If you’ve ever been to the Ring Road in Surat, you know how crazy the traffic and the crowds can get. Vijeta Silk Mills is right in the middle of all that chaos. The air inside the market always smells a bit like new fabric and dust. We have rolls of silk and other materials stacked all the way to the ceiling. It’s a maze in here sometimes. We spend the day measuring out fabric, cutting it, and packing it for orders. My hands are usually a bit tired from handling the heavy rolls of cloth by the time we close. We don't have any fancy marketing people telling us what to say. We just know our fabrics and we know what looks good. The market is a small world of its own, with people running around with bundles on their shoulders and tea sellers weaving through the hallways. It’s loud, and there is always someone arguing about prices nearby. We’ve been in this same spot for years, and we’ve seen the styles change, but the way we do business hasn't shifted much. We keep it simple and focus on the stock we have on hand. It’s a busy life, but it keeps us moving and we wouldn't know what else to do with our time anyway. Every day is just another day of moving boxes and checking colors.
