Laxmi Narayan Fab

Laxmi Narayan Fab has been at shop 2073 in Tirupati Market for quite a while now. You’ll find us on the upper ground floor, right in the middle of all the Ring Road traffic. The place is mostly just stacks of fabric reaching up to the ceiling. It’s not fancy at all. We don't have big signs or bright lights. Most of our day is spent moving heavy rolls of cloth around and talking to people who come in from other cities. The market is always loud and someone is usually shouting about a delivery truck being blocked. We like the energy of the place though. My brother and I run things together. He stays behind the small wooden desk with the accounts while I help customers find the right colors. Sometimes the air in the market gets very heavy with dust from all the textiles. We just have a small fan that doesn't do much. We don't have a website or anything like that. People know us because we’ve been in this market for years. We eat our lunch quickly when there’s a gap between customers. Often, we are still here late at night during the busy season when everyone is buying cloth for weddings. It’s a lot of physical work and our hands get tired from unfolding and folding the material. But it’s what we know. We just try to keep the shop running and help the folks who walk in.
