About Krishna Kala Fabrics – Fashion & Trends in Surat
If you have ever been to Raghukul Textile Market on Ring Road, you know how crazy it gets. Finding Krishna Kala Fabrics isn't too hard if you know where Lift No. 21 is. We are up on the second floor at C-4201. The hallways are usually packed with huge bags of fabric and people rushing around with carts. Our shop is filled wall-to-wall with rolls of cloth. Sometimes it feels like there isn't enough room to even turn around, but we manage. We spend a lot of time unrolling things, checking the patterns, and then rolling them back up again. My hands are usually dry from handling the fabric all day. We don't have fancy lights or a big showroom. It’s just the stacks of material and a few desks where we keep the ledgers. The lift is always slow, so most of us just end up taking the stairs if we aren't carrying anything heavy. You can hear the shouting from the market floor all day long. Sometimes we share a pot of tea with the guys from the shop next door while we wait for a delivery to arrive. It’s a lot of manual work, moving those heavy rolls, and by the end of the day, everyone is pretty worn out. But this is the heart of the cloth trade, so we stay busy. We have been in this same spot for a long time now and know the pace.
