Punit Clinic And Diabeties Centre sits right in Haldiya Sheri, directly opposite the Kanskiwad bus stand in the Surat Ho area. Being so close to the bus stand means there is always a lot of noise and people moving about outside. You can hear the buses pulling in and out all day long, and the smell of diesel sometimes drifts in. Our focus here is mostly on diabetes because so many people in Surat seem to deal with it these days. We also see people for general health problems that come up from time to time. The clinic is a practical space, nothing too elaborate. We have a small area for blood tests and a place where the doctor sits with his patients. It can get quite hot in the summer, so we keep the fans going at full speed. People coming from the nearby villages often stop by here first after they get off the bus. It makes it convenient for them to get their checkups before heading home. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that; we just open the doors in the morning and wait for whoever needs help. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we spend most of our time just talking to patients and checking their sugar levels. It’s a busy little spot in a crowded part of the city. We’ve come to know the tea stall owners and the other shopkeepers around here pretty well over the years.
