Devendra Tulsidas Kajiwala

Pandesara is a busy place, and being at unit 86 in the GIDC keeps us right in the middle of everything. Devendra Tulsidas Kajiwala started this up and we’ve been operating from this spot in Surat for years. It’s an industrial area, so there is always the sound of machinery and vehicles in the background. Most mornings we arrive before the sun gets too strong. The office isn't very big, but it holds everything we need to keep track of things. We spend a lot of time on the phone or talking to people who drop by the gate. Sometimes the roads around here get messy during the monsoon, but that is just part of being in this part of the city. We have a small desk for paperwork and a lot of space for everything else. My brother helps out with the accounts sometimes. We don’t really have a big sign out front, just the address and the name on a small plate. Most of our visitors are people we’ve known for a decade. It’s not a quiet job, but it’s what we do. We try to finish up by evening so we can head home before the main road gets blocked with traffic. There is a small tea stall just down the road where we go if we need a break. It's a simple setup we've got here. We just do the work and go home.
