Nityam Timber & Plylam

The shop is over on Bhatar Road, specifically at U 15, and you can usually smell the wood from the street. We have stacks of timber and sheets of plylam piled up high against the walls. It gets pretty dusty in here with all the cutting and moving things around, but that is just part of the timber business. People come in looking for specific grains or thicknesses for their furniture or whatever they are building at home. We spend a lot of time moving heavy sheets around so customers can see the patterns. It’s a lot of physical work, and my back definitely feels it by the end of the week. The Bhatar Road area is always busy, so there is a lot of noise coming in from the front door. We keep a ledger of what comes in and what goes out, but mostly we just know what’s in the stacks by looking at them. Sometimes we have to tell people that a certain wood isn't right for what they want, even if they like the color. We aren't here to give a sales pitch, just to show what we have in the warehouse. It’s a bit cramped with all the inventory, but we manage to find space to work. We’ve been at this location for a while and know most of the guys who do carpentry around here. We just try to keep the wood dry and the orders moving out on time.
