If you go down to the Ring Road and find Shri Mahavir Textile Market, we are at shop number 2035. It’s quite a climb or a wait for the lift depending on the day. The market is huge and it is easy to get lost in the rows of shops, but we’ve been in this spot long enough that the walls feel familiar. We deal with international trade, mostly textiles since that is what this area is famous for. The office is usually filled with the sound of packing tape and people shouting to be heard over the traffic outside. It is never quiet on the Ring Road. We have piles of fabric samples everywhere. Sometimes we have to move boxes just to find a place to sit and eat lunch. We don’t have a fancy reception desk or a waiting room. People just walk in, we talk about what they need, and we get to work. It’s a bit messy, but that’s because we are always busy. The lighting inside is a bit yellow, and the air conditioning struggles when the sun hits the building in the afternoon. We focus on getting the orders right and making sure they get to where they need to go. It’s a lot of hard work and long hours, but we like being right in the middle of all the action.
