Our setup is over at Plotno. 57, B, in the Nanji Industrial Estate in Kharadpada. We deal with chemicals here. It’s a different kind of work because you have to be much more careful with how things are mixed compared to other industries. We wear masks and gloves most of the time to stay safe. The air often has a bit of a sharp, pungent smell to it that sticks to your clothes. The estate itself is quite crowded with other small businesses tucked into every corner. We have some large glass containers and mixing vats that need constant cleaning. It isn't a high-tech lab you see on TV with white coats everywhere. It’s more of a practical workshop for making chemical compounds used in other products. We spend a lot of time cleaning the equipment thoroughly between batches. Contamination is a big headache we try to avoid at all costs. The paperwork for the chemicals is the most boring part of the job but it has to be done for the regulators. We have a small back room where we keep the records and a coffee machine. Sometimes the humid weather in Kharadpada makes the chemicals react differently, so we have to adjust the timing. We don't have a big sign out front, just the plot number on the gate. Most people find us through word of mouth. We just keep to ourselves and focus on the work.
