Pravinchandra Ramanlal Khambhati

We’ve been here at 84, Old GIDC in Katargam for quite a while now. Most days start pretty early because the traffic around Surat gets difficult if you wait too long. The building is just a standard industrial unit, nothing fancy to look at from the outside. Inside, it's mostly about getting the work done. Pravinchandra Ramanlal Khambhati is the name on the board, but most people just know us as the place near the corner. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, especially during the summer months. We usually have tea together around four o'clock. There are always trucks moving in and out of the GIDC area, so it stays noisy. Our neighbors have been around for years too. Sometimes the power goes out for an hour or so, but we just manage. People come by to talk about what they need and we sit and figure things out. It’s a busy life here in Katargam. The floors are a bit worn down from moving things around for years. We don't spend much time worrying about how the office looks. As long as the work is moving, we are okay with it. Most of the guys here have been working together for a long time, so we don't need to say much to get through the day. Surat is a fast city, but in this part of the GIDC, things feel steady. We just keep our heads down and handle whatever comes our way.
