The shop is located at No. 1 Hussaini Palace, right near the Begampura area. It is easy to find if you know the landmark. Saleh Bhai Abdul Husein Daginawala has been around for quite some time, and we mostly keep to our routine. The building itself has that old character you don't see much anymore. Inside, there are stacks of items and ledgers that we still keep by hand sometimes. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, so the ceiling fans are always humming in the background. We have a few regulars who stop by just to say hello or check on their orders. My desk is tucked in the corner near the window where I can see people passing by on the street. We aren’t really into the whole digital thing as much as others, though we try to keep up. Most of the day is spent checking the stock and talking to suppliers on the phone. Sometimes the delivery trucks have trouble parking out front because the road is narrow, which creates a bit of a mess. But we’ve lived with that for years. It is a family-style environment here, nothing too formal. We wear comfortable clothes and just get the work done. There is always a smell of tea brewing somewhere in the back. It’s a simple setup, but it works for us and the people we serve in this neighborhood.
