Kalaruchi Kendra

You can find us at No. 3 Jay Ambe Society, which is right near the Shakti Niketan Temple on Adajan Road. Being so close to the temple means we hear the bells ringing every morning and evening, which is a nice way to keep track of the day. Kalaruchi Kendra is a place where we spend a lot of time surrounded by art and different creative things. The society itself is quite peaceful, even though Adajan Road right outside is always busy with people going to work or shopping. Our space is filled with supplies and half-finished projects that keep us busy from morning until late. We do not have a polished corporate office. Instead, there are stacks of papers and containers of materials almost everywhere you look. The floor usually has a few spots of paint or dust on it because we are always working on something new. Local residents often walk by and peek in to see what we are doing today. We know most of the people who live in Jay Ambe Society by their first names. It is not about having a grand showroom for us. We just focus on the craft and making sure everyone who comes in feels welcome to stay a while. Sometimes we sit on the steps outside during our break and watch the traffic go by. It is a comfortable, honest place to work and we enjoy the daily routine here.
