Jalpa Dance Class

Our space is up on the 8th floor, rooms 801 and 802, right on Dumas Road. It’s usually pretty loud here because the music is always going. We have mirrors along the walls that we spend a lot of time cleaning because students are always leaving fingerprints on them. I think we’ve been in this building for a few years now. The afternoon sun hits the windows quite hard, so we have to keep the blinds down until about four o'clock. Mostly it is kids coming in after school, dropping their bags in the corner and trying to remember the steps we showed them last week. Some of them are really good, and some just like to run around, which is fine too. We have a small bench for parents to sit on while they wait, though it gets a bit crowded when the classes overlap. The floor is made of wood and it creaks a little near the door. Sometimes the elevator takes forever, so a few of the more energetic students just take the stairs. It is a simple setup, nothing like those big flashy studios you see on television. We just have a sound system, some floor mats, and enough space for everyone to move around without bumping into each other too much. We end up sweeping the floor three times a day because of all the dust that comes in from the street.
