Jainam Ceramics & Tiles

We are over at G 31/34 on Bhatar Road. It’s a tiles and ceramics place. We have rows of different designs leaned up against the displays. It’s a lot of stone and clay products. People come in and spend a lot of time walking around, looking at the patterns and touching the surfaces. Choosing tiles for a bathroom or a kitchen seems to take people a long time, so we just let them wander. We have some heavy boxes in the back that we move around with a trolley. The floor is usually covered in a bit of dust from the samples. It’s a bit of a maze in here sometimes with all the crates stacked up. We’ve seen the trends change over the years, from plain white to all sorts of colors. We just keep what people seem to want. The location on Bhatar Road is easy enough to find. We sit behind the counter and help people figure out how many boxes they need for their square footage. It’s mostly math and lifting heavy things. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us making sure everything stays in one piece. Ceramics break easily if you aren’t careful, so we have to be slow when we move the stock. It’s a quiet life for the most part, just selling tiles. We have a small corner where we keep some grout and spacers too, because people always forget to buy those until the last minute. The lighting in the shop isn't great, so we often take a tile out to the sidewalk so the customer can see the color in the actual sunlight. Bhatar Road is always full of people, so there is plenty to look at when things are slow inside. We have an old metal desk where we keep the receipts. It’s a bit of a struggle to keep everything clean because ceramic dust gets everywhere, but we do our best with a damp cloth every morning. We don't have a big delivery truck of our own, but we have a guy with a tempo who helps us out when someone buys a lot of boxes. It’s just a regular local business. We aren't part of some big chain. It’s just us here, day in and day out, helping people pick out the right shades for their floors. We hope the tiles we sell stay under people's feet for a long time.
