Hema Narrow Fabric Hema Lace

We are based at 13 Divyanand Society, which is right across from the Choksi Dyeing Mill in Khatodara. This area is full of textile units, so there is always a lot of activity on the street. Our place is where we make lace and other narrow fabrics. The machines make a constant clicking and humming sound that you can hear even before you step inside the gate. There are spools of thread everywhere in different colors and thicknesses. It’s easy to get tangled up if you aren't careful where you walk. We spend our days watching the looms and making sure the threads don't snap. It’s a bit repetitive, but there is something nice about seeing the patterns come together. The dyeing mill across the road sometimes makes the air smell a bit sharp, but we are used to it by now. We are a small operation, and we don't have any fancy managers or sales people. We just do the work and send it out. Most of the time, the floor is covered in small bits of thread that we have to sweep up at the end of every shift. It’s a simple life in Khatodara, just working with the machines and trying to keep everything running smoothly. We’ve been in this society for a long time and know all the other shop owners around. It’s just how we make our living, one meter of lace at a time.
