Ghanshyam Silk Mills

You can find Ghanshyam Silk Mills over at No. 1054 in the Hariom Market, right on the Ring Road. This market is a huge place and it can be a bit overwhelming if you aren't used to the crowd. We are surrounded by hundreds of other traders, but we just stick to our little spot and handle our silk fabrics. The shop is filled with rolls of cloth that feel very soft, which is a nice contrast to the hard concrete floors and the noisy market outside. Ring Road is always jammed with traffic, so the sound of horns is like background music for us while we’re measuring out fabric for a customer. We spend a lot of our day lifting heavy rolls and stacking them according to their colors and patterns. It’s a lot of physical work, and by the end of the day, our backs usually ache a bit. We don't have a fancy showroom. Most people who come here are looking for specific types of silk and they know we keep a good stock of it in the back. We have a small desk where we keep the ledger and a calculator that’s missing a couple of buttons, but it still works fine. Dealing with silk requires a bit of care so it doesn't snag, so we try to keep the area as clean as possible in such a busy market. We’ve been part of Hariom Market for a long time.
