Our place is located at No. 297 Govind Nagar. This part of Udhna Limbayat is always moving, especially in the mornings. The name of the shop is just Name, which sounds a bit funny but it works for us. We’ve been operating out of this building for a long time. The floor is concrete and we have these big metal shelves that hold everything we stock. Usually, there’s a couple of us working the counter and one person in the back. It’s dusty because of the road construction nearby lately. We sell various things that people in the neighborhood need for their own projects. It isn’t a high-end store with air conditioning or anything like that. We have a couple of ceiling fans that squeak a bit when they’re on high speed. People drop by, ask if we have what they need, and we go find it in the stacks. Sometimes it takes a minute to locate the specific size or type because the inventory gets jumbled up. We write all the receipts by hand in a big ledger book. My uncle started this place years ago and not much has changed since then. We know most of the people who walk through the door by their first names. It’s a simple way to make a living. We open at nine and close when the street lights come on. It works out fine and we hope to stay here.
