S. S Textile

S. S Textile is over at Gidc Plot No. 829/4. If you come looking for us, just look for the big blue door that’s usually propped open. We’ve been here for a while now, just doing our thing with the fabrics and yarns. It’s not a fancy place at all. We have a few rows of machines and a small space in the back for storage. Most of the time, the air is full of lint and dust, but you get used to it after working here for a week or two. We don't have a big team, just a handful of us who know how to run the equipment properly. We don't do much in terms of advertising or social media. That’s not really our style. We figure if the work is okay, people will eventually find us. We handle all sorts of cloth, depending on what the market wants at the time. It can be stressful when a machine breaks down right in the middle of a big order, but we usually manage to fix it ourselves with a few tools. We aren't corporate people. We wear work clothes and get our hands dirty every single day. The address at 829/4 is like a second home to us. We spend more time here than at our actual houses during the busy season. It’s a lot of repetition, but there’s a certain rhythm to the work that feels good once you get into it. We just want to keep the lights on and keep the machines humming along.
